Algarve festival opened by govt minister |
People on villa holidays in the Algarve last week may have had the opportunity to attend a food festival opening that was attended by a Portuguese government minister.
The Allgarve Gourmet Festival was opened last week by economy and innovation minister Manuel Pinho, Euro Weekly News reports.
This event was held simultaneously with Olhao's shellfish festival and Portimao's sardine festival.
Respected chefs from around Portugal visited the Algarve for the Gourmet Festival, providing gastronomic demonstrations alongside wine and beer tasting events.
Through its food and drink festivals, the Portuguese Tourism Board is hoping to establish the Algarve as a major destination for gastro-tourism and boost the appeal of the Mediterranean diet for holidaymakers.
People taking villa holidays in the Algarve can find plenty of restaurants and eateries in the region, many of which specialise in fresh seafood and spicy meat dishes.
