Faldo-designed course opened in Algarve |
Golf enthusiasts staying in Algarve villas are now able to visit a course in the holiday region designed by the famous English golfer Nick Faldo.
The six-time Major winner took some time out of his preparations for the Ryder Cup to open his course at the new Amendoeira resort, Euro Weekly News reports.
Based close to the medieval town of Silves, the par 72 course is designed for both professional and occasional golfers and boasts features including rocky outcrops and long watercourses.
Faldo said it was "great" to declare the course open and play the inaugural round.
He added: "The project has given me a fantastic opportunity to create a very strategic layout and I think the course will be a real talking point in the Algarve.
"Visitors to Amendoeira are going to find our course
a challenging but enjoyable experience."
People staying in Algarve villas looking to play a few rounds of golf may be interested in using the golf passport, which allows its holder to play on five 18-hole courses that are members of the Algarve Golfe group.
