Govt plans to cut Heathrow waiting times |
People planning to embark on their villa holidays and other trips from Heathrow airport will be happy to hear of plans to cut waiting times at the gateway's border areas.
The UK Border Agency and airport operator BAA are set to cooperate on an initiative to cut maximum waiting times for UK travellers from 25 minutes to 15 minutes.
This plan follows a similar initiative that was agreed upon at Manchester airport in August this year.
Holidaymakers could benefit from new provisions including displays in arrivals areas giving useful information and 'greeters' who will answer questions and point travellers in the right direction.
Mike Brown, Heathrow's chief operating officer, said: "We welcome any moves to drive down queues and improve the passenger experience at Heathrow and I am very pleased that the home secretary and the UK Border Agency have signed up to this positive initiative."
People planning villa holidays can reach a number of popular destinations from Heathrow, including Valencia, Rome, Paphos and Nice.
