Holidaymakers 'book online for convenience' |
The majority of people who use the internet to book flights, villa holidays and other aspects of overseas trips do so because it is the most convenient option, it has been claimed.
Furthermore, the internet allows customers to quickly and easily compare different holiday destinations and costs, Kate Shipp, a researcher for Which? Holiday, explained.
Ms Shipp said that high street travel agents are becoming slightly limited in terms of what they can offer compared to online providers.
Commenting on online holiday booking, she said: "You can do everything without having to leave your desk or your office. And it's also about being able to compare things quickly on price and choice.
"You obviously have choice in a travel agent but you will be restricted perhaps in terms of the holidays on offer."
Ms Shipp also spoke about the elements of websites that consumers appreciate when booking their holidays, with ease of use, value for money, clarity of information and flexibility at the top of the list.
