Rome visitors offered top tips |
Ahead of what looks as if it will be another successful holiday season in Europe, online travel community TripAdvisor has compiled a number of tips on the continent's most enjoyable and affordable attractions.
People planning villa holidays in Rome have plenty of options to consider visiting before setting off, according to the online group, starting with the Trevi Fountain in Piazza di Trevi.
TripAdvisor said that this stunning baroque work of art is free to visit and does not require a guide.
Holidaymakers were also urged to visit the Porta Portese market, which opens on Sundays and gives visitors a chance to shop and eat without breaking the bank, and the magnificent Pantheon, which offers free tours in the evening.
Italy is famous for its cuisine and TripAdvisor gave its seal of approval to Da Corrado on Va della Pelliccia, Trattoria Dar Pallaro on Largo del Pallaro and Da Michele on Via Merulana.
Michele Perry, director of communications for the online group, said: "It is remarkable how many hidden gems TripAdvisor travellers uncover to make travelling on a budget a reality, even in the most expensive European cities."
